  • Conference: 25th IUCr congress satellite SAXS/SANS & BioSAXS/BioSANS school 2021
    All day
    21-08-11-21-08-13

From the event website: The school is intended to provide participants with brief theoretical background of small-angle scattering theory, followed by introduction to application of SAXS (and SANS) in Biological field (protein SAXS/SANS) and materials SAXS/SANS fields. Majority of the time will be in parallel sessions where lecturers will demonstrate examples of analysis of typical cases using standard commonly used software packages. Participants will be encouraged to follow instructors on their own computers. This course is intended for students and young scientists attending IUCr meeting.

  • Conference: 25TH IUCR Congress — 25th General Assembly and Congress of the International Union of Crystallography 2021
    All day
    21-08-14-21-08-22

From the event website: Modern crystallography is an interdisciplinary subject covering structural biology, pharmacy and chemistry to physics and materials science. It includes the study of protein structures and also the crystals structures and microstructures of minerals, new functional materials, nanoparticles, bulk materials, and thin films. It is interested also in the relationship between the structure and function of materials. Important related topics is development of instrumental techniques for structural characterization of materials including large facilities XFELs, synchrotrons and neutron sources but also continuous improvement of laboratory equipments, development of optics, better and faster detectors.

The core methods of crystallography are X-ray and neutron scattering. However, mainly in last decade, it includes electron diffraction and microscopy, NMR and different spectroscopies. This development also allows investigation of structural changes under extreme conditions such as high and low temperatures, high pressures, time-resolved studies, different in-situ experiments in external fields (magnetic, electric), chemical reactions.

    21-08-19
Confederation of Danish Industry, H. C. Andersens Boulevard 18, DK-1787 Copenhagen V, Denmark

We are delighted to invite all LINX members to our LINX workshop where we will present our latest results and fuel the networks.

    Keynote speaker
We are happy to announce our keynote speaker: Prof. Henning Friis Poulsen, leading the scientific ESS-lighthouse SOLID at the Technical University of Denmark.

    Networking
We have planned the event, so you get plenty of time and opportunity to network and discuss with members, project partners and invited guests.
The facilities at DI make a perfect framework for contact during lunch and coffee breaks.

    LINX progress
The different project activities have made interesting progress and results. We will present the best ones, in terms of the evolving project histories in LINX.

    Social get-together afterwards
Enjoy a cozy time with snacks, beer and light refreshments with all your friends and colleagues right across the street at Café Vivaldi, Axeltorv.
Be our guest at this joyous occasion to celebrate everyone’s progress and achievements in LINX with the rest of the LINX family.

  • Conference: 33rd European Crystallographic Meeting 2021
    All day
    21-08-23-21-08-27

From the event website: On behalf of the European Crystallographic Association (ECA) and of the French Association of Crystallography (AFC), it is our pleasure to welcome you to the home page of the 33rd European Crystallographic Meeting web site. The meeting will be held at the Music Conservatory and recently refurbished Congress Centre in Versailles, close to Paris, between 23rd and 27th of August 2022. Both venues overlook the famous Versailles Chateau.

Although many international scientific conferences have been impacted by the current Covid-19 pandemic, we remain optimistic that in 2022, a full and exciting program can be delivered in Versailles. Nevertheless, we are currently working on contingency plans for hybrid or remote format meetings, which can maintain the spirit of interaction of the ECMs, and we will shortly announce an alternative range of sponsorship packages. Despite the pandemic, crystallography has not stood still, and we will be sharing with you, over the coming weeks, highlights that will serve to whet your appetite for Versailles 2022.

  • Summer school: CINEMAX VI PhD Summer school 2021
    All day
    21-08-23-21-08-27

From the event website: CINEMAX VI follows up on the successful CINEMAX I to CINEMAX V summer schools, where you get the chance to get teaching and hands on experience with the complete workflow of high-resolution tomography analysis.

Over 5 days, you will get introduced to data acquisition, 3D reconstruction, segmentation and meshing and, finally, 3D modelling of data to extract physical parameters describing mechanical and flow properties. The teaching and the exercises will take place in close interaction with top experts in the field. Exercises will require some basic programming skills, and will be carried out in a common python environment, introduced through an e-learning program that the students are required to follow before the school (Introduction to Advanced Tomography on Coursera).

The Summer School and e-learning course will typically be awarded 5 ECTS in total by your university. You will get a diploma describing the course content.

  • Virtual: Workshop on a Future µ-Spectro-microscopy Beamline
    13:00 -17:00
    21-08-26

From the event website: The aim of the workshop is two-fold. First, to bring together a community of researchers from Swedish and international universities and institutes, industry and synchrotrons to develop and discuss the needs and science case for the proposed beamline. Secondly, to create a platform for submitting a formal Expression of Interest, due in November as part of the ongoing MAX IV science-driven and open Roadmap process, and establishing how such an initiative should be organized.
